wafers are a fast emerging new technology which reduces leakage
current in semiconductor devices and allows operation at lower voltage/power.
SOI
demand will depend much on production activities of leading edge
SOI device manufacturers such as IBM, Freescale (Motorola) and Advanced
Micro Devices (AMD). All leading edge microprocessors of these companies
are based on SOI technology and thus have taken the lead from Intel
with regards to performance and power consumption.
